Who we are

Founded in 1984, TWAM started as a small organisation in an English garage, making incubators and cleaning gardening tools for Zaire (now the DRC).

Since then, we have grown to an international organisation of 12 staff and over 500 volunteers.

TWAM has a mission to empower disadvantaged people to create their own livelihoods. We do this by collecting donations of unwanted tools from across the UK, refurbishing them in our specialist centres, and sending them in toolkits.

They are sent to areas in need Overseas and in the UK, to be used by charities, schools, community centres, and skills training organisations. Tool recipients use them to learn new skills, begin their own sustainable careers, and put deprivation in the past - for good.
