Equipping people with tools, skills, and the chance to thrive

We work with trusted training partners who provide practical skills training in their communities. The toolkits we send help people gain the skills, confidence and equipment they need to earn a living and support their families.

Each toolkit creates a pathway to self-reliance, helping trainees move into work, start small businesses and generate income locally.

Many people supported through TWAM face poverty, isolation or limited opportunities. By placing tools directly into their hands, we help create lasting change for individuals, families and communities.

Creating purpose and community closer to home

TWAM’s impact begins long before tools reach Africa. Across the UK, volunteers help transform donated tools into life-changing resources while finding purpose, community and a sense of belonging themselves.

Supported by more than 500 volunteers and 13 staff members, TWAM collects, refurbishes and ships tools to organisations in the UK and overseas. From driving vans to sorting donations, every role helps create opportunities for people to learn a trade, earn an income and build a better future.

Turning waste into opportunity

Sustainability is central to our mission. Every year, TWAM collects, refurbishes, reuses and recycles tools that might otherwise sit unused in sheds and garages or end up in landfill. This reduces waste, cuts emissions and ensures valuable materials continue to serve a purpose.

Our environmental impact is not simply a by-product of our work. It is part of how we create change. By extending the life of donated tools and recycling damaged materials responsibly, we turn waste into livelihoods while contributing to the fight against climate change.

Every donated tool can help build a better future

Each container we send represents far more than tools. It represents skills learned, livelihoods created and futures changed.

Through every donation, volunteer hour and refurbished toolkit, TWAM helps people build more sustainable, self-sufficient lives while reducing waste and promoting reuse.

With continued support, we can reach more communities, equip more training centres and expand our impact year after year.
